Full speed ahead... but, watch out for speed bumps...

In my neighborhood is a street, with 35mph posted signs... and speed bumps that if you take at 35, you will be air-born... for a few yards... then crash into the pavement... hard!!!

And it isn't well lit at dark, so the speed bumps come on you quickly if it is the first time you travel down it... been there, done that!

So... what is my point? Well, I am involved in this "experiment" of Pet Friendly Portraiture... and this weekend I held a class, or better said... an exercise for other photogs in the area to learn my technique... and my studio and even our Yorkie, Buddy was a model... and it gave me cause to reflect on the images that they took, as well as the ones I shot...

First, they took more... and most of them did not spend as much time in post processing as I did... my images are fewer because I shoot only a couple of each pose and select only the best one of them for post processing... a lot of shots are similar and I only want the best expression to work with... and I only need 5 poses... out of those will come the best of the shoot... and I will spend most of my efforts making that image a good as I can... into a work of art... a combination of the composition (pose) and the manipulation (post)... this is my fort'e... this is what you are paying for in my fee... my services as a photographer and graphic designer, all rolled into one process...

I don't do prints... well, truth is, prints are out of fashion, even picture frames are digital... so, it seems to me the market now is for the web... and we compete against some pretty good cell phone images... everyone shares on Facebook and other Social Media... we must be willing to adapt... to offer quality images for the web and reserve the rights to prints... if they are wanted...

For instance... offer a "Wedding Frame" of the wedding... a digital frame loaded with all the shots... and let that be the product... charge what you will, but understand how your market is changing... get on board with e-photos... just thinkin'...

So... I shoot for the web... and for sharing images on phones and social media... I shoot e-photos... I deliver via the web and email... and my turn around is fairly fast... within a few days if not overnight... depends on the quantity of work the particular shoot entails... I don't rush the process... and you always get high quality...

Now... back to the analogy... I have an opportunity to drive this concept "full speed ahead"... doors are opening that can lead to some really great work and works... I am learning to be patient with myself... and take in what all is going on...

My clients have been great... and their word of mouth has led to better things for Pet Friendly Portraits... and the experience of using their pets as my models was so precious... I have gotten to know some very lovable pets... and I realize how much they mean to my clients... and I want only the best image for them... you see, I really care about these animals...

So... you can give me support... by going to the images on my web-site and selecting your fav and if you click on the share button... you can share that image on FB, G+, and other social media... I would appreciate that...

If you support "Pet Friendly Portraits" and you think I am on the right track... please let me know... you can also make a comment on my website... I really think I am on to something...

Thanks...
