I Hold Your Heart... Safely!!!

What a loving thing to say to another person... I hold your heart, safely! That infers so much to me... and that is the essence of friendships...

Friends, are others, to whom we entrust our hearts... and we feel safe with them... and we hold their hearts safely, as well... this is what Valentines is about anyway... that safe and loving feeling we share with another person... be it our mate or just or best friend... and even applies to our pets...

I know that Buddy, our 14 year old Yorkie, holds my heart safely... and I, his! I am so glad I have the images now of him at this age... I cherish that little old man... he has been a great example for me... he has taught me how to ignore a lot of pain... he has taught me that it is OK to take a nap during the day... and by his example, he has shown me how to behave with enthusiasm when I get to go somewhere or we have guests stop by...

He has become my favorite model for "Pet Friendly Portraits" and actually is the catalyst behind the development of the concept and the carrying out of the actions needed to accomplish my goals... He is an inspiration... He is my hero!!!

Thanks Buddy...

And thanks to all my friends... I dearly appreciate your friendship and caring... I am blessed!!!

Now... in the past year, I have lost some friends to death... and even though I was surprised at some, others were expected... I am at the age when people close to you begin to die off and you turn your sights on the future and the kids and grandkids... I lost my dad, my sister, and several close friends in the last few years... and those who are still around have only gotten older... like myself...

I am reminded of a line from a song... "The face that I see in the mirror... more and more is a stranger to me... more and more there's a danger, of becoming what I never thought I'd be..."

That is the way it is now... I don't recognize that good looking fellow in the mirror anymore... he has aged and is growing older... time is engrained on his face...

What does holding a heart safely, have to do with growing older? Only, that we need to cherish those who hold our hearts, for they are only with us a short time... and we with them... Don't pass up opportunities to be giving... to be loving... to hold another's heart safely...

Buddy doesn't... from the time he awakes in the morning to his last wink before bed... he is always loving and looking for ways to show his love... He is such an example for me...

I know my business is "going to the dogs", but that is exactly where I want to be... with man's best FRIENDS...
